At YMCA Victoria, we don't just talk about giving young people the tools they need to make a difference, we give them the tools they need. This starts with our own people.
Over 40% of our staff at YMCA Victoria are under the age of 25 and we pride ourselves on granting opportunities to those young people to grow and develop skills to drive their careers further. Find out more about who we are.
We run personal development and employability programs for young people at the Y. These opportunities allow our staff and volunteers to grow. Two programs are facilitated by Youth Services: Future Leaders and UNO-Y.
Future Leaders focuses on professional development skills for YMCA Victoria staff and volunteers who are managing people or programs for the first time.
Run each year over three days, the program focuses on:
- professional development
- personal development
- engagement with the YMCA.
UNO-Y is a five day program held for young people within YMCA Victoria up to the age of 23.
Through a series of workshops, young people are taken on a journey of self-discovery to learn how to best express themselves.
UNO-Y is a space that provides guidance to:
- build leadership skills
- grow confidence
- develop an increased sense of self and others.
